BRGC Code of conduct for members and guests
BRGC is an ex-pat golf club in Hua Hin Thailand and members should be aware of their responsibilities to BRGC in that we are living/staying in Thailand as guests of the Thai people. The core values of BRGC are congeniality, friendship and respect through golfing and social activities. The members of BRGC are guests of golf courses around Hua Hin and beyond and the club negotiates agreements to play at these clubs and, to maintain and enhance the BRGC reputation, within these clubs and broader community members are expected to:-
1. Play by the rules of golf and etiquette of golf in Thailand, be aware of the rules of golf and, if not sure, ask playing partner for a ruling on a playing issue. If the issue cannot be resolved during the game, play two balls and get a ruling from the Committee before signing the score card.
2. All players should arrive at the course within 30 minutes of their start time and be at the tee 10 minutes before their hit off time. Player should complete their round of golf within the standard maximum time for 18 holes which is 4hrs.20 min by keeping up with the group in front and not taking an extended break after 9 holes; ( 4 hrs . 30 min from tee time to handing in score card to daily organiser) or no more than 15 min behind the group in front.
3. The player must taking sole responsibility for marking his card with full name, handicap and clear marking of scores (this cannot be delegated to the caddy). The completed cards must be handed to the daily organiser before the player showers and/or takes clubs to the car.
4. It is expected that each player should make a payment (tip) to the caddy of a min of 300bt. If there are any issue with the caddy fulfilling their responsibilities the player cannot use the payment (tip) as a method of review, if there is a problem, the player is to report the issue to the daily organiser, who will take the issue to the club management . Usually courses have their own internal caddy review mechanisms.
5. Show respect to the golf course by maintaining the condition as the member finds it by ensuring the bunkers are raked, divots are filled and pitch marks repaired (often the Caddy will do this but it is player responsibility to ensure it is done properly).
6. Show respect to the staff of the golf club including the caddy. The caddy is not a professional caddy and is employed to carry the bag, drive the cart, repair the course etc. (Players are advised not to drive the cart as if there is an accident the player will be held responsible.)
7. Show respect to the work that the committee is doing, fellow members and their guests by being congenial and inclusive to all eg.
- Make welcome to all members;
- Make every attempt to attend presentations;
- If unable to play an event for which you’ve signed up, contact the committee / organiser of the day within reasonable time
- Before start sheet is issued : use the “cancellation” facility on the booking sheet.
- After the start sheet is issued, but more than 24 hours before the event : email or phone call.
- After the start sheet is issued, but less than 24 hours before the event : phone call
- Make every attempt to attend presentations.
- Support the values of the club.
- Resolve issues in non-confrontational ways, both with fellow members and with the Committee. If any member has a suggestion or complaint about the work of the Committee, the member is encouraged to call a Committee member or email to [email protected].
- Support the values of the club and to resolve issues in non-confrontational ways;
For breach of any Rules of Golf or competition rules, penalties as per R&A Rules of Golf apply. In addition, in order to protect the reputation of BRGC and the rights of all members, the Committee reserves the right to take action in the event of any violation of the BRGC Code of Conduct, up to and including cancellation of membership.
