Mission statement
To provide competitions for registered golfers (our members and their guests) at various courses in the area. The philosophy of this society is to nurture fellowship between golfers through sport and social activities.
BRGC - The History
In March 2006, a group of 3 expatriates, Steve Ross (who sadly passed away suddenly in April 2007), Paul Frampton and Mike Ford, got together to form a new golf organisation in the popular resort town of Hua Hin, Thailand. Their idea was to establish a golf club, following the traditions of a British golf club, for residents and visitors. Within two months the Butterfly Rock Golf Club was formed and the first competition was played on May 3rd, 2006 at Palm Hills Golf and Country Club. The initial membership was by invitation only and the first 30 members became the founding members.
BRGC - Today
It was originally decided to restrict the membership to 60. Such was the popularity of BRGC that, by October 2006, these 60 membership places had been taken up. It has since been agreed to increase the membership to a maximum of 150. Today we have approximately 100 members. New members of the golf club must be permanent or long-term (more than six months in each calendar year, although these do not need to be consecutive) residents of Hua Hin/ Cha Am.
BRGC players must have handicaps of no more than 28 for men and 36 for ladies.
Member's guests are welcome to join the outings, but are not included in the actual competition.
